Yes, Martin has carried out all the relevant training with the NCC Training Academy, ALKO, ALDE, TRUMA, WHALE, THETFORD, STGW etc. The training certificates can be viewed on the certification page of the site, which are updated as and when additional product training is completed.
Absolutely, the same procedures and tools are used as you would expect from a dealer, a comprehensive report will be supplied on completion. Minor repairs will also be carried out during the service, bulbs or fuses for example with your prior consent of course. It also includes the one shot nuts used on the brake drums.
Leisure vehicles should be serviced on an annual basis - even if a tourer or motorhome is used only a couple of times a year. (Lack of use can cause its own problems)
If you intend to tour a great deal, especially in areas where the roads are not well surfaced, then it is worth considering more than one service per year. Poor roads can adversely affect tyres, suspension, bodywork and fittings etc.
First and foremost for you and your family`s safety. However All manufacturers are quite strict on this for new units, there will be service scheduling requirements in their warranty information pack in order for you to maintain your warranty. It is also recommended that older vans are regularly serviced purely to ensure it is safe for you and your family to use. If and when you decide to sell / upgrade service history can help. The NCC and Caravan and Motorhome Club advise that this should be done on an annual basis.
This is a stand alone comprehensive in depth electrical inspection and testing of the caravan or motorhome electrical wiring, equipment and safety devices that are fitted.. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) recommends the maximum period between inspection and testing for caravans should not exceed 3 years. The two consumer clubs endorse this view – an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is issued following completion of the test.
Yes, However the check on the annual service is purely a functional safety check and is not as in depth as the EICR which comes with its own comprehensive report.
Yes, the service we provide is mobile so can be carried out at either your home or storage facility, or anywhere else that is convenient for you. All I ask is that a 3 foot space is available around the unit, it is on level ground, to ensure safety when jacking it up, removing wheels, checking brakes and being able to access underneath easily. *Please note wheels are not removed on a motorhome*.
It is best to be honest to remove as much gear as possible in order to access all areas, especially for the water ingress check as access is required in all the hard to reach areas of the lockers, under beds etc. if an area is unable to be reached because of too much gear then it will be noted on the report.
No you don`t, as long as prior arrangements are made regarding keys and access to the motorhome or caravan if it is in storage, then the service can be done without you being present, a full report will be supplied on completion and can be emailed or posted whichever you prefer.
A motorhome habitation service will usually take around three hours. A single axle tourer service will take around three and a half to four hours and a little longer for a twin axle tourer.
Absolutely, if you wish. The gas check is part of the full annual service but should you require it to be tested separately, for example if you are smelling gas a lot when using the appliances. and suspect a leak, it can be checked as a stand alone system. Martin has recently passed the STGW Gas Course.
The Approved Workshop scheme recommends that you should have your tourer tyres changed every 7 years at the latest. This is in line with the British Tyre Manufacturers Association (BTMA) guidelines.
